Monk FactsThe NATO watch strap has a storied history that is intimately tied to the British defense services. The fabric watch strap was introduced to the British Ministry of Defense in 1973, and was known as the ‘G10’ after the form one had to fill out to be issued with the strap. The classic, Ministry-issued straps were all issued in ‘Admiralty Grey,’ but in later years the different regiments had straps made in their own regimental colours. At Double Monk, we have managed to source authentic dead stock straps in the classic ‘Admiralty Grey,’ the Intelligence Corps colours, as well as the iconic Goldfinger stripes (though, of course, Sean Connery cannot have been wearing a NATO strap, since they were not issued until almost a decade after Goldfinger was filmed).
