Monk FactsThe Style Guide is the latest offering from English menswear maven Simon Crompton. It is a much more pared back, aphoristic guide than his previous books. Crompton focuses on a series of 'looks' that seek to encapsulate various ways of dressing. The great virtue of The Style Guide is it's simplicity and open-endedness. Rather than telling the reader how to dress, Crompton offers a kind of visual brainstorm - over 100 full page photographs capture every detail of each look - complete with brief captions to guide the reader. It is a wonderful repository of inspiration for the menswear expert and novice alike, and a great companion piece to other more methodical guides by the likes of Alan Flusser, Bernhard Roetzel and Crompton himself. English journalist Simon Crompton is best known in the world of menswear as the creator of the wildly successful Permanent Style blog. Much of the reason for the blog’s success is due to the fact that Crompton started from the very position that his countless readers are in. As a man who enjoyed the finer things, but was constantly finding himself assailed by marketing and PR, Crompton decided to sort the wheat from the chaff, and tell everyone about it along the way.
