The Belgravia is a round-toed tasselled loafer. In an elegant touch, the roping to which the tassels attach is woven into a fine braid. The tassel embellishment owes its beginnings to a debonair man-about-town named Paul Lukas. In the 1940s the penny loafer was at the height of its popularity and Lukas was looking for something different. Having recently been impressed by a pair of oxfords with tasseled laces, he approached his shoemaker and asked that tassels replace the strap of his penny loafer; thus the tasseled loafer was born. The Belgravia is crafted on Edward Green’s 184 last, which is their slim, round-toed loafer design. This is a dressy model for a tasselled loafer, hence it can be worn with a suit as well as the more standard sports jacket and trouser combination; it even looks great with dark denim.

Established in a small Northampton factory in 1890, Edward Green has gained a deserved reputation for ‘making the finest shoes in England for the discerning few’. Edward Green’s shoes are made with the finest calfskin to the highest standards of workmanship. Each pair takes several weeks to create and many master craftsmen are involved.
