A Norwegian split-toe derby, the Dover is perhaps Edward Green’s signature shoe. The Norwegian split-toe is a unique model that features a raised seam that runs vertically from the toe to an apron which covers most of the vamp . The hand-stitching involved in creating the split-toe and apron of the Dover is so fine that it must be performed with a stiffened boar bristle, rather than a needle. This incredibly skilful handwork gives the Dover its inimitable refinement, it is a centrepiece of the Edward Green collection . Crafted on the 606 last, it is a subtly squared version of a classic round-toed english shoe. Traditionally a more casual shoe, the wonderfully refined finishing on the Dover makes it a perfect match with anything from a suit to jeans or chinos. The open lacing of the derby style also makes the Dover an essential model for those with a high instep.
Established in a small Northampton factory in 1890, Edward Green has gained a deserved reputation for ‘making the finest shoes in England for the discerning few’. Edward Green’s shoes are made with the finest calfskin to the highest standards of workmanship. Each pair takes several weeks to create and many master craftsmen are involved.
