This classic style straddles the fine line between the dressy and the relaxed. The Norwegian front shoe, also known as a split-toe, was brought to the USA in the late 19th Century by Scandinavian settlers. While it originated as a comfortable working shoe, shoemakers such as Alden gradually refined the design until it became a kind of hybrid: half dress shoe, half comfortable weekend option. It is a style that remains hugely popular among the style savvy; a true shoe-lover’s shoe.

Alden: the greatest American shoemaker, period. Charles H Alden founded The Alden Shoe Company in Middleborough, Massachusetts in 1884. Throughout the company’s history, Alden has relied upon maintaining its reputation for high-quality craftsmanship. While most shoe manufacturing shifted overseas during the latter 20th Century, Alden has prospered as a maker of comfortable, durable and handsome dress shoes.
